Daring Diners Indulge at Machete Tequila +Tacos

Tacos at Machete Tequila and TacosTime to chow down on TACOS! If you’re in Denver, you have to check out Machete Tequila + Tacos.  This place is Outstanding, with a capital O!  Established in 2011, they serve up epic margaritas and food so good it’ll make you scream, ¡Ay, caramba!  The welcoming staff provides an atmosphere that encourages daring diners to indulge in delicious food and drinks that stand up to the authentic flavors of Mexico.

In addition to cleverly crafted tacos, their menu offers four, yes four, different Quesos Fundidos. In case you haven’t had the chance to try Queso Fundido, you should know that is an ooey-goey, out of this world cheese dip made in a blazing hot cast iron skillet. Who can say no to that?

When visiting Machete Tequila + Tacos with family, we started the evening off right! And no, not with boring chips and salsa!  Their Masa Crips are served up with four salsas: Jalapeno, Fresno, Rustica and Gringo.  They’re a bold blend of flavors from spicy to smoky, they can’t be beat!

Skinny Marg at Machete Tequila and TacosOf course, we all ordered from their extensive list of Margaritas. The house margarita, aka Machete, is a pungent blend of Cuervo Traditional Reposado tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau and organic agave nectar.  Faintly sweet but still powerfully flavored the skinny marg is made from Cuervo Traditional Reposado, fresh lime juice and a splash of organic agave nectar.  We didn’t stray too far from the traditional, but the drink menu offers a variety of unique flavor mash-ups.  The Kona Margarita is flavored with pineapple and coconut.  The Mojito Rita with freshly muddled mint caught my eye.  And, the spicy “Extremely Hot” Hot Mess Margarita made with habanero and serrano infused tequila.  The list goes on and on…

For dinner, we opted for the 12 taco Taquizas. Basically it is your choice of 12 tacos.  Keep in mind these are smaller, street-style tacos so it’s easy to share 12 among a small group of people.  We chose a couple of each.  The  Campechano is a spicy mixture of hanger steak, red chorizo, melted Oaxaca cheese, onions and cilantro.  The sweet and spicy Costilla Ahumada has smoked pork rib, chile puya rub, green apples and green onions.  Machete Tequila and Tacos TacosThe De La Milpa was my favorite. It has poblano pepper, corn, eggplant, zucchini, Cotija on a Hibiscus tortilla.  With a balance of flavor, the Arrachera con Chile Relleno has hanger steak, “Guero” pepper and Oaxaca cheese. The Pescado has grilled Tilapia, lettuce and chile fresno aioli; a fresh take on a fish taco.  Finally, the Langosta, no doubt this is a luxurious taco!  It’s made with fried lobster tail, smoked avocado, corn, Chile morita aioli and onion ash.  Unquestionably, this is my new favorite place to grab a few tacos, a margarita (or two) and create memories with family.

With locations in Cherry Creek and Union Station, Machete Tequila + Tacos is a heck of a find!
