I’m so excited because our fall shipment of Coppola Wine just arrived last week. The first bottle out of the box was the Reserve Syrah. I poured myself a glass before dinner and before I could finish it, I spilled the last few drops on the carpet. Recently the hubs and I have been talking about new flooring in the living room and dining room. So instead of getting angry over spilled wine, I said to him, “Do you know the best way to get spilled wine out of carpet? New carpet!” We both had a good laugh and then I reached for the carpet stain remover. The stain came right up. Guess I have to wait a while longer to replace the carpet.
Anyway, back to the Coppola Reserve Syrah. If you aren’t familiar with Syrah here are a few things to think about when drinking it.
Syrah is one of the darkest, full-bodied red wines. When you taste it be prepared for a punch of flavor. It has a slightly spicy aftertaste; although smooth, similar to Cab. In fact, Syrah is often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for a more ample flavor. Basically, if you like Cabernet Sauvignon, you’ll likely enjoy drinking a Syrah. It’s definitely a safe wine to try if you’re looking to broaden your horizons and try different varieties.
This bottle is on the pricier side at $40, but well worth it. Syrah is a nice wine to pair with barbeque smoked meats or even a blue cheese burger; anything with bold flavor. The trick is to bring out the subtle, distinctive flavors of the wine. So what the heck, invite a few friends over for one final BBQ of the season and enjoy!
