Review: Noble Vines 2013 The One Black Red

Noble Vines 2013 The One Black Red is a blend of several red varieties: Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec among others. This wine was awarded the Best Buy award by Wine Enthusiast.  Jim Gordon, a contributing editor for the magazine, wrote, “An extremely deep, almost black color is the first sign that something unusual is going on in this bold but not heavy wine. It smells like dark berries and baking spices and tastes like boysenberry jam while staying dry in style. Abundant layers of fine tannins make the texture grippy and prepare the wine for the richest proteins on the table.” It comes in at just $15, not bad for a decent glass to enjoy on a Friday night! Pair this wine with a simple steak or red sauce pasta dish.
