What Wines Pair Well With BBQ?

Memorial Day weekend is upon us and you may be scratching your head, wondering what wines pair well with BBQ?  The smell of grilled meats, smoked sausage and other barbecue favorites will fill the air as this  weekend marks the kickoff to grilling season! As you’re preparing for your neighbors to join you around the grill – perhaps being interrupted by their turn to pull the giant Jenga piece for the center of the leaning tower- here are a few tips on what beverages to pair with your outdoor meal.

Beer is the most common choice for barbecue, because it acts as a palate cleanser. Something to cut through the richness of the meal. Barbecue is where wine pairing can get tricky and confusing.

Here are some tips:

Try a Chardonnay or sparkling wine with grilled chicken. Serve Malbec, Syrah and Zinfandel with Steaks and burgers. Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris or a dry rose pair well with pork chops and salmon.

Let me know what you decide to pair with your next BBQ, I’d love to hear from you!

Here’s to a great grilling season!  Until next time, cheers!
